Teaching Objectives

To cultivate students with a solid theoretical foundation in finance, strengthen their practical skills, and align with national economic policies and industrial development trends. The goal is to train well-rounded financial professionals with expertise and management capabilities to serve both government and enterprises.

Curriculum Planning

The department develops students' core competencies through three orientations: practice-oriented, career-oriented, and diversity-oriented. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on application and collaboration with industry. Students are invited to attend lectures by financial industry experts and arranged for internships to bridge theory and practice. Department Overview

Finance is among the most popular fields of study at National Formosa University. The department offers high quality education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Finance is the study of how individuals, institutions, governments, and businesses manage their capital or other financial resources. This program offers students an opportunity to study the finance function within the enterprise and to learn the operation in the banking or security sector.

Mission

The Department of Finance equips students with both the theoretical background and the analytical tools and techniques to handle a variety of finance tasks. Our mission is to prepare our students for financial positions in the financial services sector, treasury departments of non-financial corporations, real estate firms, accounting firms, the government sector, and other service sectors.

Curriculum

Our Department provides a wide array of finance-related courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. The curriculum in finance is divided into three areas of financial decision-making, incl. corporate finance, securities and investments, as well as banking and insurance.

• Courses in the corporate finance area focus on the study of capital budgeting and planning, investment analyses, and capital financing. The courses are aimed to prepare students for positions in corporates' treasury departments or for positions such as financial analysts and management consultants.
• Courses in the securities and investments area emphasize the decision-making processes required to analyze the valuation of securities and the principles of managing an investment portfolio. The aim of the courses is to give students a background suitable for starting positions as securities specialists, securities dealer, or financial analysts with securities firms, investment trusts, investment banks, or other financial institutions.
• Courses in the banking and insurance area are designed to learn the operation and management in the banking and insurance systems. The courses also facilitate the understanding of the theory and practice aspects of various finance products. In addition to the recent marketing techniques on those products, the courses further prepare students as professionals in the banking and insurance industries to conduct financial and tax planning for clients.
